goal-scoring midfielders aren't that easy to find, and come at a price.

He's a good player that knows the club and is less of a gamble than bringing in another unproven player would be.

I think we need to be careful not to completely tear our side apart - remember, we were only 1 point (2 with GD) away from staying as a PL side!
