Breathing in dust from a material that contains it for a lengthy time is a serious danger.
If there wasn't a danger they wouldn't be carefully removing it from almost everywhere, a process which has almost made an industry on its own! Specialist tips, skips, equipment...
Highly surprised that a firm would be that blase on exposing workers to asbestos, especially due to all the s**t they can get into with risk assessments and the like. Add to that they'd have lawsuits left right and center, not only from workers but from the people in the houses, imagine if the scenario was true and a baby developed serious breathing issues and the company was sued? The company would die right there and right then, if not financially but in public image.
