I think the timing is very fishy. Gameplaying here.

Remember when a story broke from the Birmingham site a few years back that we were gonna sign Morrison. It then transpired that we'd made a bid, been told to come back with serious money, and they went public saying that they'd agreed a fee with us - the fee they reported bing far higher than what we offered. Point being to try and drum up an auction (successfully). God knows whats going on in this instance, but someones got a strategy somewhere.
