I believe you are missing the point.

It's overly-transparent, and he's too reliant on it as his input. Thus, if everyone ignored his trolling, he would be ploughing a lonely furrow, as there's no second side to his game.

Of course I see through him, everyone does. Most people would call it a day at this point. But he doesn't, hence the need for new material to enhance the troll. Otherwise, as I said, he is no more than a parody of the good days.
