Lambert was delighted with the performance, saying: "It was a monumental effort when you consider all the lads we had out today - senior pros not just kids. It was a superb win anyway but the fact that we had players in the side who hadn't played for a long time made it all the more special.
"Adam Drury was playing his first game for several months, and Zak Whitbread was playing his first full game of the season and for them to come in and do so well was a tremendous effort, especially when you remember we were playing against a top side.
"All the lads were brilliant for me today and I couldn't have asked any more of them. It was an excellent performance."
Despite the Canaries' promising league position, Lambert is adamant that he remains focused on beating the drop.
"My target is still survival. If we can achieve that in this league then hopefully I will be in a job for a little bit longer. Don't ask me about promotion now. Try again in May and I might be able to give you an answer.
"It was good to get the early goal - I think that settled everybody down. It was a great block from their defender to deny Chris Martin but Russell (Martin) caught it really well and from then on I thought we did really well."
Lambert was also pleased with the performance of new striker Aaron Wilbraham.
He said: "I thought he was excellent. He has only just arrived here and is still getting to know the lads.
"It's never easy when you are thrown straight in, especially with the atmosphere we had today, but he acquitted himself really well. He felt it a bit towards the end but that was only to be expected."
