Yes today is a bank holiday in the UK

The UK has (I believe) the smallest number of public holidays each year: but we always get two for Xmas and Boxing day and another for New Years Day. If any of these fall on the weekend the following Monday (and Tuesday if necessary - like this year) are taken.
