Christmas Survival

This is inevitably How It's Going To Be.

After many years getting ludicrously pissed off about it I've now evolved this kind of zen state where I just ignore it and drink too much instead. It's an unrealistic ideal "all the family being nice to each other" and it took me a long time to realise that but when I did I became, if not content, at least resigned to the inevitable and not disappointed (because my expectations are being met each and every year).

My family does get on and sometimes we have some really lovely "together" times. Christmas, however, is never, ever, one of them.
