the poor, students etc seem to be the enemy now

but they're not. The poor and old have always been a sensitive group where ANY policy on support has been heavily critisised - this is no different. And as for students, why shouldnt they contribute to their own eductation? They only have to start to pay back their loan once they earn over ?21k..... again, sensitive, but not that different in poaying todays tuition fees.
