It takes patience - make a syrup with sugar all the spices and a bit of the cider

Boil the f**k out of it - sacrificing all the booze in the booze, then when it's lovely and thick let it cool right down - then whack in the rest of the cider and warm through.

For small persons you can simmer it until the tiddly has all boiled off but I can't do that because it makes me weep for the wasted booze..
