Oh I see, I'm sure you can get an interface to allow any lappy to do that

since it has various in-lines. A desktop could be more reliable though due to having more room for parts - bigger fans, better movement of air, not being lugged around and dropped etc. probably cheaper too.
I suspect you won't necessarily want to play your guitar in the same place so a lappy might be better for you. I'd look into the availability of the line-in interface first and then make a choice
