the letter aitch originated from a need for Europeans to represent the guttaral 'h' of arabic (audible in words like 'mohammed' when pronounced correctly). The letter was originally pronounced 'acha' and it slowly evolved into the english 'aitch'. so the 'h' part of the name for the letter is at the end of the name, not at the beginning.
