Not really, it's just another way of looking at it.

Tricky's right it is less unethical. But it's still bribery and manipulation but in a socially acceptable form.

Like blokes who take women out for expensive meals and buy them flowers and gifts in a hope to impress them enough to sleep with them. Socially acceptable manipulation.
