Spain & Portugal Bid

FIFA are now against joiunt bids as it is an administrative nightmare for them, as well as depriving a Worlc Cup of an "identity"-and, following the Japan/South Korea World Cup, they said they would not look positively on joint bids again.

Presumably the chance for a few weeks swanning about on the beaches has changed their minds with regard to Spain and Portugal?

I didn't, and still don't, think we stand a chance of hosting it, and that was before all the media "revelations" (including the fact that bears s**t in woods) about FIFA, brown envelopes and corruption in general. If anything, it will have convinced many voting members that they are right not to go with the England bid.

As for that old crook Warner, getting us to suck up to him when he is almost certainly going to vote Spain/Portugal, well, more fool the FA for falling for it.

I can even see us being the first nation booted out of the voting today, then Holland/Belgium, leaving a straight fight between Russia and Spain/Portugal, and I think Spain/Portugal will get it, along with a commitment from FIFA to award Russia the next world cup that can be held in Europe-although they also qualify as a host in Asia as well!

Would love to be wrong, but can't see it happening...
