Loans.........plus lots of random thoughts.

Love the fact that Lambo is selective and only brings in players that make us better rather than bringing in players that make up the squad numbers.

To be honest although he probably won't admit it in public I am sure players like Barnett and Lansbury are given assurances over playing time.

Are we seriously going to agree to bring them in and not play them given wages and the fact that playing time is their whole goal of coming here.

It's tricky because I am sure players like McNamee will feel slighted a bit but to be fair Lambert has given him some chances to start the game and he hasnt been that great. (compared to coming off the bench where he has often done well)

Wes has played well in some games from the start but has been truely excellent coming off the bench and making an impact when a team is getting tired.

Feel sorry for Oli Johnson, hasnt done much wrong this year. Same with Cody last year, didnt do much wrong either.
If their jobs are nothing more than to create healthy competition then they have succeeded.

The bench is starting to look incredibly strong.

If we have one game where Holt, Martin, Jackson and Hoolahan are all in form we could end up destroying a team this year.
I mean totally destroying a team.

The way Holt puts himself about is a double edged sword.............
You pray he stays on the pitch but he puts the fear of God into the opposition.
In the long run it can be argued that its worth the suspensions every season.

The only problem is we don't really have a replacement.

But thats OK becaue we do have a manager who is as far from a "one trick pony" as you can be.
He is able to play a system around the players he has available or the players who are in form.

The manager has a real problem with Simon Lappin when Drury and Smith are fit.

The guy does nothing wrong, is involved in virtually all our best performances.
Totally solid pro that every team/squad needs, never moans, loves and appreciates every game he plays.
Has proved incredibly versatile playing on the left in various roles.
Very underated when we play the diamond as he gives the defensive cover we need.

Russel Martin......looked for a while that he might be the boo boy target........ has been nothing short of excellent...... offers great width which you need with the diamond formation.
Has started to prove many people wrong who felt he isn't quite good enough for this level.
Especially when you consider he has virtually no competition for his place.
