But you can also now get into a university even if you do very badly in your A levels, albeit a 'lower quality' university, which surely must devlaue degrees. I'm not sure what the balance should be, but it seems a bit silly to allow practically anyone into university.
I also feel that having people pay a much larger % of their education costs directly will simply mean more people studying vocational degrees.
Here in S. America that's pretty much the system and an overwhelming proportion of students study things like business administration
