Venice is a bit of a clich?, but it's totally amazing if you find good places, the weather's good and you're not surrounded by tourists. There's nowhere like it.
I also liked Pompeii. If you're even remotely interested in history that part of Italy is great. Places like Paestum nearby as well with ancient Greek and Roman temples and all that.
Florence is ok, but I found it a bit stuffy and stiflingly hot in summer. Tuscany in general is better in the villages and places like Siena and Lucca.
The alps are beautiful as well. The dolomites in S?dtirol / Alto Adige are stunning, as are places like Courmayeur and Cervinia.
