own up, which one of you did this.....

On 1 November 2010, Oliver took charge of Blackpool against West Bromwich Albion at Bloomfield Road in the Premier League, where Oliver showed two red cards to the away side - sending off Pablo Ibanez for a foul in the West Bromwich Albion penalty area and Jara for a challenge near the corner flag. The red card for Ibanez was subsequently rescinded upon appeal to the Football Association.

Twelve days later, Oliver refereed the match between Reading and Norwich City at the Madejski Stadium in the Championship. Shortly before half-time, he showed a red card to Norwich striker Grant Holt for an alleged over-the-ball tackle on Ian Harte, with the score at 3?1 to the visitors. The match finished 3?3 with Norwich manager Paul Lambert being sent to the stands by Oliver for leaving his technical area. After the game, Lambert described the decision to send Holt off as "pathetic", and confirmed the club would appeal against it.[6] Later that evening the Reading manager Brian McDermott, see Brian McDermott (footballer), speaking on BBC TV, also criticised Oliver's decision to red-card the Norwich centre-forward, notwithstanding the advantage that it had given to his team in the second half.

Voices within the sport have called for Oliver to be stripped naked and made to parade round the pitch at half-time while fans take pot shots at him. Many are also suggesting his career as a Marc Almond tribute act affects his judgement on the pitch.
