when i first took Mrs S to Ireland about 5-6 years ago my nan did exactly the same thing

Mrs S just sat there bewildered for a moment, till we all started tucking in.

before that day Mrs S had always insisted on peeling spuds before boiling them, she could believe how much easier they are to peel once they've been boiled.
