The last time we played Millwall away midweek we lost 0-1 on a Tuesday night in the 2005/06 season. The following Saturday the EDP ran Richard Balls' article ?Time to call last orders on Worthy? where he claimed that NW was on a four year contract. The contract that Worthy was on was in fact a one year rolling one. I also wrote a PinkUn article the same weekend entitled ?What Price Shares in Worthington Plc? with the same message. It was time for Worthy to go.
The previous midweek game at Millwall was in the 2002/03 season. It was a 2-0 win when Malky and Zema Abbey scored in the first half at the other end and we won very comfortably. This was the season after the play-off final loss against Birmingham who beat Millwall in the last minute in the play-off semi. There was some very serious trouble after the semi-final game and the result of this was a bunch of new rules about which home fans could get into see Millwall play. I?ve no idea what the crowd was for the 2002/03 game, but my recollection was that it was half empty and full of old men and gobby kids who banged the seats up and down to make some noise.
