read back through some of our fans veiws about saturday and have to concur with a few thoughts....
we had long spells with the ball, in fact sometimes I thought we lacked any instict to play "that" killer pass, and seemed sometimes we were trying to walk it into the net....
the two quick goals from cardiff could have killed us off, but we responded very well and I thought were unlucky not to go in half time equal.......
the big difference for me was that cardiff were excellent down the flanks, particularly the right flank - giving both fullbacks a torrid time - each ball played into the box was something for their forwards to attack, when we defended well it was at the cost of a corner - and what with cardiff having big strikers this was always a problem... in comparison our ball into the box was too often weak, behind the attackers so cardiff could defend quite easily....
both holt and jacko had off days, maybe the reason why our midfield (wes) all too often bypassed them......
not sure why wes went off, a decision i didnt understand, we lost any chance of another goal when that happened......
that said, we could have crumbled but didnt, and i left the game feeling reasonably pleased........ on that display alone we're a top 10 side...... which i think most of us would take!
bigger turn out by the city fans than i would have expected, however i felt that most fans were a little suppressed, and i'm as guilty as the next man, as we seemed to lack much bouyancy - i put it down to a probable reason that not many of us went there expecting anything! Also, bellers appreciated the round of applause he got when he came over to take a corner, and it went down well with the home fans....
lovely new stadium, but s**t parking/no pubs!
all-in-all an ok day!
onwards and upwards!
