You missed the first line of my post.

The lino saw the handball, so flagged for it when the goal was scored.

The ref discussed it with him, and it is quite obvious that he had allowed play to continue as Gomes had the ball.

You can guarantee there would be people moaning at the ref for not letting the game flow and being whistle-happy, had he MADE Gomes take the free kick.

Gomes was in control of the ball, and gave that up. *HE* gave away that advantage. That's his fault, not Nani's or certainly not Clattenburgs's.
