I spose it is a mark of how far we have come with Lambert that I was disappointed not to have come away from Cardiff with a point, even tho Cardiff were by far the best side I have seen this season. Despite that we actually played very well for periods in the first half, passing the ball very nicely, creating three good chances.
It must be said that it appears there are several players who do not look as if they will make the transition from League One to Championship. Jackson is one. He was poor today, missing a sitter that any respectable striker would have put away. And, I am afraid to say, Holt was embarassing today, absolutely hopeless.
Wes, Crofts, Lappin and Leon were excellent. R. Martin, Ward and Korey were good, Smith OK. We lost all our creativety when Wes went off. Why does Lambert always do that?
Referee was poor. He seemed to be overwhelmed by the competative side of the match. The blatent dive by Bothroyd should have been a booking. Some of the fouls given against Holt were laughable.
But encouraging nonetheless. If we can reproduce our first half display for the rest of the season there's no reason to think we can't finish in the top half of the table.
