Maybe he's realised that football isn't all about grotesque weekly salaries.

Maybe he's realised it should be all about your loyalty to the club you love and the fans who support you - and therefore - as an example to all other greedy footballers - has decided to take a massive pay cut and sacrifice Champions League football to go back to Everton.

That would be nice.
