Stephen bloody Fry......

during my epic drive back from the nether regions of eastern europe i decided to relieve the boredom by listening to stephen fry's autobiographies amongst other things.

overcome with fatigue i pulled in to an autobahn services near munich. i re-fuelled the vehicle with diesel and, myself with a cappuccino and a chocolate croissant. as i was dunking my croissant two cars pulled up beside me and the occupants, who were obviously friends and getting on in years, got out for a chat.

i was listening to fry.

they, were not.

not that is, until this boomed out of my window.......

"there were two things in life that were abhorrent to the english, one was to be a homosexual.... the other (long pause) was to be a (pause) JEWWWWW (drawn out like a dirty word)".

4 heads in unison turned to give me the most fantastic communal impression of a school of goldfish.

* i might have misquoted his actual words a bit but my memory of the exact sentence has been overtaken by the reaction of the germans.

anyway cheers mr fry, it made my morning.
