The problems of umpiring

I stood at a rather important cricket game today (for france anyway!).

this was the contentious issue, and yes it involved a LBW decision!!

A new bowler came on, bowling over the wicket and couldnt find his line. result, 2 wides. So, he decides to round the wicket for the the rest of his over. he was more accurate, but ended up in front of me after his delivery.

I warned him at the end of the over that he was almost encroaching into the protected area, and more importantly I could not see the result of his delivery as he was stood in my way.

first ball of his next over, he bowls a full toss onto the pads of a confused batsmen who was on his back foot, plum.

massive appeal (a pakistani team, very enthusiastic!) I dismissed the appeal as I was unable to se past this big lump of a bowler. Maybe the batsman got a bit of bat to it? who knows, I couldnt see past fatty,
