any mortgage brokers offofon here? - I have a question...

do you get paid by the lender or the borrower - what happens if the borrower doesn't get a mortgage do you still charge a fee for paperwork etc

Speaking to a financial guy at the moment who 'thinks' he may be able to get me the mortgage I need but wants £100 up front non returnable and a further £500 once it all goes ahead - am I being scammed?
