(taking a break from tidying the loft)(it's warm up there)

And I suppose you vary your delivery in terms of length and where (lewft-to-right) you try to drop it? But if the batsman has his eye in you don't drop it too short? Or is short good against a village batter?

I don't really know what I mean by 'amateur', cos I bet there are very good and lesser amateurs. I only ever played cricket at school, and always tried to dodge it because of the embarrassment of my throw - I didn't have a girl's throw, I just couldn't ever combine distance and accuracy and this made me look really stupid - but I did find out that I could block all day without ever looking like scoring.

Emboldened by this I was giving a mate some lip one day while he was practising for the village team, and i was invited to have a go if I thought I could do any better. So I faced up against the fat aging bowler who lobbed at me five deliveries, each of which I confidently left, and each of which took my bails off before I'd moved. I didn't get a sixth, because I accepted the invitation to f**k off and leave them alone. I still have no idea what he'd done. As I recall, each ball was different but for all I know they were just variations on the same.

So you've bowled your stock leg break three times and he's defended each one without great confusion: what are your options? And what's this Theory that AB hinted at?
