ALthough that would indicate he'll get the money, its very hard to move a squad forward (especially one lacking in stand out talents) if you are forced to sell the Jewels of the Squad in order to bring other players in.
Villa have finished top 6 in the last 3 seasons having been in a bit of trouble before he took over.
This isn't good enough for the Villa fans anymore, they are looking at CL qualification this season.
To do this, they need to finish above 3 of Manure, Arsenal, Chelski, Man City, Spuds, Liverpool and possible Everton too.
If you've got to sell to buy, and sell from a squad low in 'top 4' quality to start with, how exactly do you meet those expectations?
How do you explain that to the modern, demanding, fan who expects 'progress' every season?
In short, its nigh on impossible, so do you stay on in a desperate hope you might manage it anyway, or that the board may resist the inevitable fan pressure to replace a manager that has "taken us as far as he can" and not get sacked.
Or do you asses the situation, decide that you feel you cannot do the job you have been asked to do, and leave the club?
