its early but....

It was pretty early when McNally sacked Gunny last year. However it seems obvious thatw ehare gong to have defensive problems this year and we shall see how Lambert gets on...he has bever managed at this level.

I thought the main problem last night was that there was no Plan B. David Fox is a highly sillfull creator but doesn't give the defensive bac up that Rusty did. I thought Crifts was going to sit at the "base of teh diamond" but watching him last night he has a wonderfull engine and should be encouraged to be a box-to-box midfielder. Surman too looked inpresive at time if a little inconsistent. Without that ball winning midfielder we are going to struggle.

That being said there was no change in tactics. Lambert has always only played that diamond and encouraged the team to keep "tight". malky new that full well and matched us and beat us competitively. There must have been other options...going 4-4-2 crating somewidth and stretching Watford. Two holding midfielders orone and then taking it in turns for the other to support the attack.

Maybe Rusty was asking for too much money but we could certainly have done with him last night. Spillane , too had a variety of skills to offer, from being a holding midfieler , to a box-to-box one and in my opinion a muchh better right back thatn Martin defensively and attackingly.

Don't take this a s a moan, merely a few quations that were raised in my head last night. I'm sure Mr Lambert will show me the answers in the months to come.

Good night!!!!
