First up this, this will come across as a rant cos I've just watched a bloody awful overall performance over a few beers and short of repeatedly banging my head against a brick wall, I need to vent my utter frustation somewhere. Sorry.
WTF was that! Watford in my view (and no insult to Malky) are a mid-table Championship team struggling with finances. On paper it was a Norwich win IMHO.
So why have I just watched a Norwich side struggle to string two passes together in front of a defence that was absent for most of the game. The third Watford goal was the absolute cherry on the cake - lots of winging to the ref while the game carried on around them, no right back and a girl's jump from the defender (didn't see who) when the shot came in and subsequently crept in past Ruddy, who was himself distinctly average. Maybe the 'keeper was a bit nervous, but based on today's performance decidedly ropey in front of the sticks.
I'm beginning to feel better as I type...
The back five though were not great, and the first half was a tough choice between pulling my nails out with pliers and watching the TV for which offered the most excruciating pain.
Second half it was clear that PL had offered some words of advice (i.e. pull you f'ing fingers out lads) and the first goal was a result of that but then the steam seemed to dissipate until the last few minutes which was all too little too late.
I sincerely hope that this was a wake up call to the team, as if they play like this for the rest of the season it will be another NCFC supporter stress-fest of a season, and at my age I don't need that s**t for another nine months.
On a positive note there is some skill in the team when they get themselves together but collectively they need to tune into the fact that the Championship is a level up and take their respective games to that level.
I don't write often, but the frustration boiling up inside (mixed with a few beers) necessitates this rant.
All calm now, at least until the next game.
