the virus will have changed your intenet settings to stop you getting on the net

go into internet options and then hit the connections tab, then hit "LAN settings", in there there should be some tick boxes one related to proxy server settings, untick this box if its ticked.

thats what a lot of viruses are programmed to do to stop you from getting on the web to download antivirus stuff.

if that fails then i dont know.

other options is you could download malwarebytes on a diff machine then transfer across via CD/cable, then run a scan.
