Think of it like this...

Full HD is 1080p = Blu-Ray

HD TV is broadcast in 720p.

This TV is 720p, but if you plug in a blu-ray player it will convert the 1080p to 720p. The TV will also upscale Standard TV and DVD to 720p.

To get HD TV you need either Freeview HD (not yet available in most of the country), Freesat, or Sky HD.
