I don't think Spain's record is all that great...they even lost to England!

I also remember them losing to South Korea. Lost to Belgium in 86 as well. Do remember them winning against Italy only 2yrs ago though. Also 4yrs ago I don't think Italy had won a Penalty shoot out until the final.
