Oh aye yeh - FAO BC re Valhalla Rising

What a lot of the lads didn't like was it wasn't what they expected, which would've been a massive Viking gore-filled carve-up. There's a lot of brutalitiy in it, including a disembowelling and caving-in of skulls but for the most part it's just very atmospheric.

Often - nearly always, in fact - when driving a long way I find myself trying to imagine life without roads and/or basic technologies, and this is what the film gives us. The lads complained at the lack of dialogue: I pointed out that in those times there'd have been remarkably little to discuss.

They sail off and find land, but they don't know where they are - there's no "I've heard about this place" or "those trees mean we're in Morocco" or any pf that - and we the viewers don't know where they are, either.

It's very interesting. I'll deffo watch it again.
