indeed, ditto colured telly. In fact I can remember when we got our first telly -

my dad made it. BBC only and it had a plastic knitting neede sticking out the back to correct the vertical role.
My mates dad was a squaddie so had loodsa money - they had ITV and we used to watch "Mr Ed"
