Ancelotti and Capello both see / saw him in training, and didn't want to play him

Don't really get your point re Capello. He clearly f*cked some stuff this up tournament. But that doesn't mean he suddenly knows nothing about football. (And when Cole came on, he was indeed rather pointless.)
