This has been brewing for a long long time but many have chosen to ignore it.
England, tactically and technically are simply not good enough. The team has not moved forward from Italia '90. I think the money that has come into the game from the Premier League has been the biggest problem. It was not distributed in the way it should have been. It should have been used for youth development and training proper coaches. Look at Holland, Germany, Spain, their coaching is terrific. The German game made sure that they set aside money for bringing forward the youth and boy did it show yesterday.
English football has suffered from the "instant gratification" society. Everyone want's everything now, regardless of the consequences. Well now we have the consequences. A bunch of players that just don't know how to compete or have the ability to compete on the world stage. The FA have to take the can for this. Their financial mismanagement in the last 17 years has been shocking, New Wembley is the perfect example.
Whilst all this has been going on, the better nations have got better, the developing nations (Slovakia, Serbia, etc) have improved greatly. The African nations have come on leaps and bounds, particularly Ghana. England has been left lagging and this tournament has exposed it. These teams are now equal, some even better than England now. England are clumsy in posession, the first touch is shocking, there is no movement, the play is one dimensional straight down the middle, they can't defend properly.
I don't blame the players (entirely), I don't blame the manager, this is the fault of the FA.
Well done FA.
