The only other wreckless example I have to mind at the moment is when Derby brought back cruiciate threatened Giles Barnes for the play offs. He survived the games, and they went up, but he didn't play for a season because of it

Then Derby chucked him when his deal ran out. Yet 2 seasons before he was worth about ?10m

Luckilly West Brom picked him up and he looks like he'll get his shot at the premiership, even though it's wasted about 2 years of his career

That's what Fergie did to Rooney, and I quite look forward to him having a very poor season at Man Utd due to injury fatigue
