What it shows is you need decent players.

The UK press has a lot to answer for, the "Golden Generation", John Terry "World's Greatest Centre Back", Stevie G "World's Greatest Whatever" etc etc. Dara O'Breen (or however you spell it) described the English press and football fans as X Factor parents, thinking their kids are fantastic performers despite ALL the evidence to the contrary. In a spoof Beckham interview last week, "was the ball to blame for USA and Algeria?", "no, we're just nowhere near as good as we think we are". Nuff said.
