I just cannot buy the line that they're not good enough. They should be good enough to compete, to reach the odd semi-final or final.
Finishing second to the USA and getting dicked by Germany is not representative of these players' abilities, easy target though they may be.
It is representative of their programming, their mental state, their desires, their fears and their clarity of thought in the white hot heat of battle.
Capello has failed to galvanise a team good enough to wipe the floor with Ukraine and Croatia (twice) and he must shoulder some of the blame for that. Not all - but some.
It isn't black and white, no one reason will suffice, but the players simply not being good enough is not something I subscribe to for one minute. We have clearly, undeniably underachieved.
