yes that's all well and good but it's also aftertiming

we were top of the group til our game was over

germany group was not decided

we weren't in a position to gamble at the end when 1 goal meant we were heading home in disgrace

it's the old risk/reward

and the risk certainly wasn't worth taking

like calling all in on a flush draw on the turn with half your stack left

just not done
