Andrew Surman - very encouraging signing IMO

Very pleasing. Surman is a very good technical footballer who is highly thought of, played for Englan U21 I'm sure on several occasions.

Just spoken to a Saints fan colleague who is gutted, thought he was going to resign for them. He was glowing in his praise for him, says if we can get the best out of him we have a very good player on our hands.

Moved to Wolves last Summer but was maybe a year to early to move to the Prem, especially with a new club.

Plays out wide on the left (though not a winger) or just inside.

You have to imagine that Lambert considers this signing an upgrade on Simon Lappin.

Make no mistake, with the likes of Surman, Hoolahan and Fox Lambert is clearly not planning on booting it up the pitch this season.

Very, very encouraging.
