I thought we qualified really well, too. This was after the pre-tournie friendlies

(Mexico and Japan), when Capello's attempt to play without Barry didn't work, and he obviously panicked a bit. (As I said on here at the time.)

eg:
- dropping Walcott after he'd played for him throughout the qualifiers;
- picking Cole after starting him precisely once before (and now of course he won't play him - so what was the point taking him? Why not take Adam Johnson, who he plainly had more faith in?);
- picking Dawson without ever seeing him play for England (it was obvious that Carragher was actually the backup CB, plus King and Upson - so why waste a place on Dawson?);
- not even looking at Parker, despite picking him for the squad, and him being the obvious natural cover for Barry;

Capello's plans obviously fell apart, and it was also obvious that he *didn't* have a plan B - as is now clear to everyone.
