Pure speculation but Robson hates him and only didnt sell him to a prem club as they are all rivals.

Would be a suitably high profile signing to show people and (other perspective loan signings) we mean business. Also Robbo could be thinking that if he does well and were placed 6th or something we could be tempted into a cash plus earnie bid for ashton in december??
