In a game where there are only 10 outfield players, having one of the two nominal striking positions just there to do flick-ons, seems quite a high ratio of luxury. The figures are good - 9 goals for Rooney with a Heskey start, but perhaps a trad striker alongside Rooney might have menat a similar total tally - not as many for Rooney but net result the same.
Would people be so tolerant at club level? THink DDG is correct - this is more a feature of a poor shower of available strikers and we've all rather fallen for the holdupmandoesn'tneedtoscore.
