he was shackled without a doubt in those games and had little impact (same with Gazza and Barnes). All the creative players in the side had a lot more space in the other games when the sweeper system was employed. Waddle had good games against Holland and Germany, these are the 2 games England performed best in. So all in all a bit harsh but played his part in the most successful World Cup side since 66.
