How can a site as popular as youtube upgrade so badly?

Finding out the date a video was put on there and its rating is surely one of the first things you want to be able to find - if it's a joke video with 0.5 stars then you can save time by not clicking it - now you have to sit through it before realising for yourself. Similarly you may be seeing a clip thinking it's recent but it is in fact from 2005.

FAIL youtube. FAIL!
