It's years of dodgy dealings going right back to Ron Noades. As we know no football club is whiter than white, but there are plenty that try to keep things in order given the pressures that make up the game.
If we keep the 'we'd hate it to happen to us' mentality, then what will happen is years of teams like Soton, Portsmouth, being able to sweep aside huge debts and mismanagement without any recourse.
How would you feel if, having paid off everyone at pennies in the pound, Palace did get a buyer and started afresh, new expensive players, and walked the Championship next season?
I didn't notice the weeping and wailing for Chester. Of course it's said for the fans, but perhaps if those fans had continued to go to the matches then the finances might not have been quite as messy.
