I doubt it was part of any initial discussion

but simnce neither party was able to agree based on those discussions that presumably doesn't mean it couldn't be part of some 'imposed' settlement.

In some ways it is an obvious 'ideal' solution in that we pay more only if he actually brings us more (if we get promoted to the Prem paying an extra ?500k or so will be peanuts and well worth the price!)
