It seems to me that Cowling just likes going to press each week

saying it's been decided and they're right but he can't say anything.
He should be happy - his pathetic little club with barely any revenues will now have two compensation payouts sitting in the bank and he's probably paying 4/6d for the former assistant manager. And he's avoided having to pay Boothroyd off at Christmas when he would have had to sack him.
